On the field of hope.

In China, rural areas are facing major problems such as cultural deprivation, migration and low productivity. To address these problems, the Chinese government has introduced a number of rural regeneration policies, using higher education and cultural institutions to develop rural areas. In addition to this, the introduction of the internet has to some extent facilitated communication between parts of the city and the countryside. The introduction of education and the internet has become a tool for villagers to spontaneously engage in bottom-up microeconomics, infrastructure constructions, lifestyle, and community. Moreover, this new phenomenon is quietly reshaping the perception of rural ownership.

The film explores a future where the introduction of university education using multidisciplinary intersections, combined with low-tech construction models, along with the introduction of XR technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality or mixed reality) gives new definitions of space and the interaction therein accelerates the exchange between urban and rural areas.

What will the new policy be? Will it affect urban dwellers moving to the countryside?
